As part of the «Factory» program, I decided to create a series of T-shirts featuring screen-printed designs based on my own project, «Ladies from Maxim.» For the collection, I selected six original illustrations depicting eccentric ladies in theatrical costumes inspired by the fashion of the Belle Époque.

Paris, late 19th — early 20th century. The restaurant «Maxime» was a venue where luxury, fashion, and high society became a living spectacle. Merely being present was not enough; one had to command attention, inspire awe, and conform to the constructed image. Within the walls of «Maxime, ” a person became part of the performance. Attire, jewelry, hairstyles, and manners created an artificial shell behind which the genuine self gradually vanished. The external appearance became more important than the person concealed by it. The „Ladies of Maxime“ project explores this loss of individuality through fashion and theatricality. The main protagonists of the project are women who exist almost exclusively for the gaze of others. Their appearance is exaggerated, their poses are deliberately theatrical, and their clothing becomes an extension of their artificial persona. They evoke the image of high society beauties, theatrical actresses, and porcelain dolls simultaneously. Behind the dramatic silhouettes and flawless exterior, one cannot discern their true feelings or character.
