The design for the long-sleeve t-shirts was based on an authentic late 19th-century women’s skating suit. The silhouette of the jacket inspired me to translate characteristic elements of historical clothing into the design of a modern long-sleeve t-shirt, while maintaining a reference to the original suit. The print was created in response to the tartan skirt, examined both statically and in motion during skating. The distortion of the pattern conveys the fabric’s dynamism, and the cut cuffs allude to the details of the historical costume.
