Developing the Protagonist for the «Many-Faced» Project
Setting: Ancient China, 1060. In a trading city along the riverbank, beneath the shade of blossoming gardens and silken textiles, the «Spring Pavilion» opened its doors—a house of arts and pleasures where wine flowed like a river and the sounds of the pipa and flutes never ceased. No one suspects the power awakened in the depths of this house, nor the desperate yearning for freedom that might cost human lives.
The main character is Baizjing, a demoness who leads a double life, hiding under the guise of a 20-year-old dancer who has just started working at a flower shop. By day, she warmly greets guests and captivates them with her talents, but by night, she crafts masks from human faces, which she later sells to demons.
When creating the prop, I wanted to combine beauty and danger, while ensuring the item looked organically suited to the character. Therefore, I chose an umbrella concealing a blade inside.
