Mosaic series «Spirit of Luck» and «Sugared Samurai,» created as part of the «Creative Workshop in Mosaic and Stained Glass» variation.
Mosaic «Spirit of Luck»
The inspiration for my work was the Nambasaka Shrine in Osaka, specifically the scene featuring a 12-meter-tall lion head whose open mouth, according to local beliefs, swallows evil spirits and brings good fortune in return.

In the mosaic itself, I connected the entrance to the mouth (though now it is a dragon’s mouth) with the gates of Torii, inside which is a mirror reflecting a human face.

Mosaic «Sugar Samurai»
The inspiration for this composition was a sugar bowl from Japan shaped like a puppy. I immediately wanted to reimagine this cute character as a formidable samurai.
