As part of the «Factory» program, I decided to transfer my illustrations onto T-shirts, transforming them into a series of apparel items featuring original prints. In my drawings, I place my own likeness into looks inspired by historical costumes. Full skirts, unusual headwear, intricate silhouettes, and vibrant color combinations create a fantastical wardrobe where historical fashion merges with the naive aesthetic of drawing.
The project’s concept is connected to the opportunity to inhabit different personas and view oneself through the lens of another era. The historical costume here serves not as an exact reconstruction, but as a way to play with appearance and self-perception.
The contrast between the photographic rendering of the face and the artificiality of the drawn clothing plays a crucial role. The realistic face becomes part of a fictional character, and conventional notions of costume and appearance take on an ironic resonance.
Transferring the drawings to T-shirts allows these looks to move beyond the paper and become part of daily life. The T-shirt becomes a kind of stage for transformation: theatrical costumes, typically associated with a different era and special occasions, appear within the context of modern, everyday wear.
