The project is a series of towers—spatial markers of memory for the vanished villages of Zayonye and the Russian North.

[The Issue of Vanishing Northern Villages and Culture]
— creating towers as a memory marker

[Bell Score of the Onega Region]
— symbol of unity among northern villages

All the towers are unified by a common sound system—a bell score—a historical soundscape where the chimes of chapels and the bells of neighboring villages resonated during festivals, bringing the settlements together into a single cultural system. The bells served religious, civic, and navigational functions, and the belfries themselves acted as landmarks across the landscape and from the water.
[Zayonezh Pegroglyphs]
— overall texture of towers and holes
In N. V. Lobanova’s book, «Petroglyphs of Lake Onega» (2015), several typologies of the Lake Onega petroglyphs are mentioned:
Functions and Meanings of the Towers:[01] Memory of Place— an art object that fixes the existence of a vanished settlement.[02] Traces of Ancient Culture— the connection of the modern object to petroglyphs as a historical method of preserving information and human presence.[03] Spatial Landmark— a prominent vertical element in the landscape that denotes a specific point on the territory and forms a system of navigational markers.
