Smoking is harmful to your health. This project is not tobacco advertising and is purely artistic in nature.
«Peraphrase» — a series of five silent videos that explore the conventional phrases society uses to explain crises and instruct individuals on how to accept what is happening: «For your safety,» «Be patient,» «Stay calm,» «Everything is under control,» «Time heals all.»
In these works, these formulations clash with visual actions that reveal their internal contradictions. Calming words transform into instruments of pressure, restriction, and silence. The absence of sound emphasizes the state of a person who can no longer—or is not permitted to—speak up.
The project examines how neutral language normalizes anxiety, anticipation, loss of control, and inaction.
Color Palette:
Orange was chosen as a visual expression of instability and anxiety. In my own color system, green denotes stability, orange signifies instability and tension, and blue represents calm and a state outside of dichotomy. The palette helps convey the emotional state of the video without sound or additional explanation.
«For your safety»
«Be patient»
«Everything is under control»
«Time heals all wounds»
«Stay calm»
