In dense urban development, the sky becomes a fragmented element between buildings. In the «Prosvet» project, I investigate how architecture constrains open space and directs our gaze toward the light.
The project is centered on my photograph of a Moscow sunset. The dark facades and the foreground framing take up most of the frame. Between them remains a narrow strip of sky, where the brightest colors are concentrated.
I was interested in how the perception of the sunset changes when the city almost entirely obscures the horizon. The viewer’s gaze travels along the buildings and lingers on the remaining opening. The architecture simultaneously becomes an obstacle and a frame for observation.

Image Manipulation
During post-processing, I aimed to retain the evening atmosphere and make the image more expressive. In Photoshop, I worked with noise and pulled out details in the shadows.
The dark framing remains part of the composition: it enhances the depth of the frame and separates the viewer from the space outside the window. The main color accent is the transition from cool purple clouds to the warm light on the horizon.

Final Project
«Prosvet» is a photographic object where the strict geometry of the city frames the mutable sky. The title signifies the visible space between buildings and the possibility of looking beyond the familiar surroundings.
Why 30×40 cm
The vertical proportion of 3:4 matches the original frame and allows for the preservation of the entire image. The dark framing and the edges of the buildings define the boundaries of the view, so it is important to keep them in the composition. The 30 × 40 cm size suggests close viewing. The viewer approaches the object and peers into it, as if looking through a small window. This scale supports an intimate character in the observation of the city.
«Prosvet» Lamination
One object, vertical orientation.Width — 30 cm. Height — 40 cm.Photo printing under a 5 mm glossy acrylic cover. Aluminum base. Concealed chassis for wall mounting. Designed for placement without an additional frame.
