The pocketbook series is a compilation of texts that explore the Everest phenomenon—a unique destination that draws people from all over the world, and a sacred place for the local Sherpa people. The main book in the series is dedicated to the Sherpas, as it would be impossible to study the world’s highest peak without them. The book investigates the period from the migration and formation of the people up to the present day. The pocketbook places particular emphasis on the daily life, customs, culture, and religion of the Sherpas, as this people are exclusively known within the context of mountaineering. The internal structure of the people is barely discussed.
