Concept
This bench is a simple public street bench designed for relaxation and waiting in communal areas where people often lack a place to sit. It features a comfortable seating area, a built-in charging port for phones and small devices, and a small flat surface where coffee or any other beverage can be placed safely. It is durable and weather-resistant, allowing anyone to sit, wait, charge their phone, and relax comfortably outdoors.
Idea Source
There are no benches for rest or waiting areas on the grounds of Dormitory No. 9. The situation worsens when visitors arrive (especially those who are neither HSE University staff nor students because they lack a pass). They have to wait, but unfortunately, the only benches are located inside the dormitory. Therefore, there is a need to create rest/waiting benches that could be placed in problem areas.

A good resting bench should fit the human body and be comfortable. The seat depth should be around 38–45 cm, and the backrest should be angled at approximately 100–110° for comfortable relaxation. If there is a small side table nearby, its height should be around 90–105 cm. There should be at least 90 cm of free space around the bench so that people do not feel cramped. Adjustable or modular benches suit people with different body types, and armrests, footrests, and varying seat heights help reduce fatigue. In short, when a resting bench conforms to actual human proportions, it feels natural, safe, and refreshing—it puts less strain on people and helps them maintain focus and creative energy.
