SUBTITLE — media exploring the hidden meanings in the English language across film and television. The T-shirt translates the project’s visual language to a physical medium: bold typography, a fragmented black-and-white portrait, pixel graphics, and contrasting yellow accents. Both sides of the garment convey the idea of incomplete perception—when the words are understood, but a portion of the meaning remains unnoticed.

T-Shirt on Hidden Meanings

Between words and meaning
We can understand every word in the original audio yet still miss the joke, the subtext, or the cultural reference. SUBTALE explores these hidden meanings. In the t-shirt design, the idea of incomplete understanding transforms into a visual image: a fragmented portrait, pixels, and torn imagery.
Two sides. One meaning.
FRONT Large-scale SUBTALE typography and a black-and-white portrait fragmented into pixel blocks.
BACK The composition, featuring an eye, lips, and geometric elements, continues the visual metaphor of hidden meaning.
From all angles
A free silhouette, dropped shoulder line, and wide sleeves create the foundation for bold graphics. The pixelated 'S' logo repeats on both sleeves, connecting the front and back of the t-shirt.
Deciphering
Pixels divide the image into fragments. Black and white photography evokes cinema, while contrasting yellow elements highlight details that often go unnoticed. The S logo is composed of pixelated forms and is used as a standalone element of the identity.
