Pond — an outdoor chair designed for terraces and verandas, inspired by the fluid forms of nature.
On a veranda or terrace, you want to sit for long periods—over breakfast, with a book, or during a conversation—and do so comfortably. However, you can’t leave home furniture outdoors, and simple patio chairs don’t always invite extended relaxation. The goal of this project was to create a complete outdoor living space, not just an additional seating arrangement.
The chair’s form is inspired by the pitcher plant: its rounded leaves, softly unfurling petals, and lightness upon the water’s surface. The curved slats of the seat and back convey the softness of natural lines, while the light cushions evoke the delicate core of a flower. The chair embodies the serenity of a pond and the feeling of closeness to nature.
