Concept
Voice of Heaven — merchandise for a student video game project in the adventure genre, blending 80s rock culture with alien horror. The action unfolds in the abandoned cave megalopolis of Embryonburg, where the protagonist—Harrigar—awakens and attempts to recover memories of a past life as a musician, while also climbing out of the depths of the Abyss toward the heavens. In a world of blindness, stones, and insectoid mutants, music and the electric guitar become the primary weapons, the means of interacting with the environment, and the key to salvation.
The title and slogan, «Voice of Heaven, ” reflect two main conceptual ideas embodied in the game:
— **Vertical Ascent: ** The „Heavens“ represent the physical goal of the journey. They function as the upper horizon of a multilayered world, following the trail of the first surviving human, Greg Farran, through mountain ranges and clouds.
— **The Voice of a Lost Home: ** In the past, Harrygar wrote songs about love, inspired by his wife, Kristen. For the musician trapped in another body, her image and distant human life are those unattainable „Heavens”—a memory he is trying to recover.
