Concept
The T-shirt serves as a carrier of original graphics and simultaneously as a space for conceptual expression, continuing the traditions of 1960s art. The T-shirt project, featuring quotes from deceased philosophers and artists on modern technology, is built upon the ironic clash of different eras. Its intellectual value lies in the delicate balance between humor and serious thought, which, overcoming the temporal distance, gains a new resonance and prompts the viewer to re-evaluate the present through the ideas of the past.
We can no longer say that technology is one of the elements in our historical situation. Instead, we must say that «technology» has become the world in which history unfolds—or, differently put, technology has become the subject of history with which we now merely «coexist.»
I took the work «The Antiquity of Man» by philosopher Günter Anders. By reinterpreting his ideas, I developed a statement inspired by his work and the concept of the «Promethean break.»
